Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Bridgwater, Taunton, Ilminster, Yeovil, Chard, Tiverton, Minehead

Salary: £50,000 + company benefits

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a forward-thinking and innovative engineering business. This is a varied and rewarding role that involves designing and developing mechanical systems, assemblies, and machinery to meet customer and project requirements.

Responsibilities:

Create detailed 3D models using Inventor and 2D technical drawings using AutoCAD.
Develop mechanical designs from concept through to production, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations.
Produce bills of materials, technical documentation, and design calculations.
Work closely with production, electrical, and controls engineers to ensure smooth project delivery.
Participate in design reviews, providing input on functionality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
Support prototype builds and testing, resolving design issues and implementing improvements.
Ensure all designs adhere to British, European, and International standards.

Requirements:

Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within an automation, machinery, or manufacturing environment.
Proficient in 3D design using Inventor and 2D drawings using AutoCAD.
Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently as well as part of a team.
