Financial Accountant – Dortmund, Germany

Approx. 55,000 – 60,000 Euros (negotiable depending on experience)

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join a global automation and leading technology business. As the Financial Accountant you will be responsible for ensuring that the debtor and creditor master data in the project system, along with the financial accounting and reporting is accurate and kept up to date, liaising with all stakeholders.

Main responsibilities

  • Participation in the monthly closing of financial accounting, including intercompany reconciliation and the netting process
  • Processing of vendor invoices (parking, checking, and posting)
  • Preparation, execution and booking of payment runs
  • Checking and posting of expense reports
  • Creation and booking of internal settlements
  • Ensure accurate management of customer master data
  • Create and post internal clearings
  • Checking the formal correctness of the incoming accounts payable invoices
  • Book targeted and accounted invoices in the project system and in the financial accounting
  • Checking and posting of expense reports
  • Ongoing review of the accounts payable open list
  • Compliance with internal guidelines (accounting manual, expense regulations, etc.)
  • Compliance with statutory declarations (VAT, VST, tax returns, statutory annual accounts)
  • Coordination of main and subsidiary ledgers

Key skills & experience

  • Technical/commercial knowledge required – Previous experience from Engineering, Manufacturing, Automaton, Automotive, Warehouse Automation, Aerospace would be beneficial, other industry sectors would also be considered.
  • Strong communication skills in German and English (written and verbal)
  • Previous experience of Implementation of the monthly/annual accounts together with controlling communication with team members.
  • Strong communication skills with the general accounting team, controlling and supervisors
  • Experience and willingness to help/support general ledger and other business functions outside of your remit
  • Clear communication within the team and with superiors
  • Compliance with deadlines and quality of work
  • Completed basic commercial training
  • Completed or in training to become an accounting clerk would be beneficial not essential
  • Previous professional experience in financial accounting
  • Analytical thinking and decision making
  • Ability to learn and develop skills & knowledge, to set priorities correctly
  • Project business experience would be advantageous but not essential
  • Knowledge of SAP/Abacus would also be advantageous but not essential
