Position: Lead Electrical Design Engineer

Salary: £55,000 – £60,000

Commutable from: Kidderminster, Redditch, Hereford, Worcester, Bromsgrove, Droitwich, Birmingham, Evesham and Pershore

My client is a well-established engineering company that designs, manufactures, and supplies a range of bespoke test equipment and systems. As a Lead Electrical Design Engineer, you will manage electrical design projects from initial concept to delivery, create detailed electrical designs and provide technical support. You will also be responsible for managing a small team.

Key skills required for the Lead Electrical Design Engineer:

• Designing, specifying, analysing and implementation of machine safety systems.
• Producing electrical control system designs for a variety of projects including special purpose machinery
• Understanding project requirements and producing schematic diagrams, hook-up diagrams and build instructions using CAD for Production.
• Estimating material and manufacturing costs including creation of BOM’s.
• Adhering to project timelines.
• Working with the internal purchasing department and external suppliers to ensure procurement of critical components.
• Contribute to risk assessment and good safety practices by maintaining an awareness of activities and reporting on potential areas of risk.
• Carry out feasibility studies for new products and technical innovations.
• Assisting in coordinating other technical team resources.
• Creation of testing, installation and commissioning procedures and analysing data.

Key experience required for the Lead Electrical Design Engineer:

• Previous experience working in an Electrical Design Engineer role.
• Strong background in automated machinery, instrumentation and test equipment would be advantageous.
• Must be a team player.
• Excellent communication skills are a must.
